Aligi Sassu's legacy in the city's public collection
In the heart of the City of Lugano, a significant part of the artistic and intellectual legacy of Aligi Sassu, a central figure of twentieth-century Europe, is now preserved.
Thanks to the generous donation of the Aligi Sassu and Helenita Olivares Foundation, works, archive materials and documents become part of the public heritage, helping to strengthen the link between the artist and the Ticino territory.
This site is a digital project created to narrate and enhance this legacy: a place open to knowledge, research and discovery, where Sassu's painting dialogues with its time and continues to speak to the present.
With this initiative, the City of Lugano confirms its commitment to the protection and promotion of culture, offering everyone - citizens, scholars, visitors - the opportunity to encounter a living work, made up of form, memory and vision.
